Citizens of Pigtown
COP Monthly Meeting May 14 2013
Agenda-
We have Park & Recs coming out to tell everyone about the new & exciting summer programs at Carroll Park and give us some updates on the construction with our new/renovated Rec Center at Carroll Park. There are good things happening at Carroll Park this Summer, make sure you join us!
I've put together a survey for everyone regarding the casino. The survey will address the 1st year plan and the creation of a 5 year plan of how Pigtown would like the Community Impact Money Spent in the area and through Pigtown. Please bring your reasonable idea0/projects and expectations to the meeting, and positive outlooks. I know not everyone is thrilled the casino is coming but there isn't anything that can be done to stop the casino so lets make sure Pigtown benefits as much as possible.
The last section of the meeting will be on safety, while our crime numbers have gone down across the board, we've had crime we've never seen before in Pigtown. And we are extremely saddened by the arson that occurred at the Zips Dry Cleaners last month. We hope the owners of Zips are willing to stay in Pigtown, and it will take approx. 8 months for cleanup. We ask everyone to be vigilant in keeping an eye out for crime and if you don't report it the police department doesn't know there is an issue. You can report anonymously and the city has a created a website where you can report crimes without the need of a police officer and obtain a police report. This is to be utilized for simple crimes like stolen items from your back yard of which you don't feel is necessary to call the police but still need to be reported. Also if you have a smart phone, please down load the 311 app, all 311 requests can be made anonymous and the app provides updates, picture uploads and GPS pinpoints.
